Hi, I’m Carol Ruth Weber of Weber Life Design, and today we’re talking about keeping the top of your closet organized. This is very important because this ends up being the place where you just kind of toss things up to, especially if you are not able to reach things easily and it ends up being one big mess of organized things and you can never find what you need. When you are moving into a dorm it’s the perfect time to get the shelf together and know what you have and need up there. It’s a perfect spot to put seasonal clothes. If you are moving into an area where you have Summer and Winter, you’re going to be moving into the dorm probably when it’s still warm out so you’ll need a place to store your sweaters to swap out with the bathing suits when the colder weather comes. Place the sweaters in stackable storage containers or even boxes, banker boxes work great and you can label these. Storage containers and boxes are perfect to keep sweaters stored and blankets and towels as well. You always want a little extra, you never know if you’re going to have company or if you don’t make it to the laundry in time to wash your items. You also want to be able to stack shoes. It’s perfect. You can place a number of nice dressy shoes, then you could stack them up to the ceiling in their individual boxes and affix a label with the photo of the shoes on them and it will look beautiful. Another good thing to use for storage are vacuum bags. Vacuum bags look like giant zip top bags and you simply put your items in, make sure they are sealed and they have an area to vacuum out all the excess air. They end up taking about half the space that your items would normally be stored in and these are perfect to store any extra blankets, pillows, maybe your down coat when the weather gets warm again. It’s perfect for storing and it’s perfect for moving as well since you can pack more into a box. So there’s a lot you could do in a closet and if you stay organized your life and your studies will be more organized as well. So don’t forget to stay organized, keep studying, have fun at college and never be afraid to dance.
