Whether you have lost someone to breast cancer, have breast cancer or simply want to support an extremely rewarding and worthwhile endeavor, participating, to whatever extent you can, in an Avon Walk for Breast Cancer is an experience you are not likely to forget. You can do it entirely on your own, or with friends or loved ones. You will meet some extraordinary people along the way and help raise money to find a cure for this disease. Read on to learn how to participate in the Avon Breast Cancer Walk. You must be 16 years old to participate in the walks. You can choose whether you want to walk a marathon (26.2 miles) or a marathon and a half (39.3 miles) over a weekend. In the event you need assistance, the route is always patrolled by supportive, friendly volunteers and staff who will gladly transport you as far as you need.

Keep in mind that you will spend the night in the "Wellness Village" where two person tents will be set up. You will get delicious food, hot showers, sinks and bathrooms as well as medical services. Many sites are staffed with volunteer chiropractors and masseuses as well as others who will make sure you are comfortable, healthy and happy. Staying in the Wellness Village enables you to fully participate in the experience, and enjoy the camaraderie of thousands of men and women sharing the experience but you may opt to sleep elsewhere and return in the morning.

If you don’t want to walk but still want to make a meaningful contribution, you can become a crew member or a volunteer. If you are a crew member, you are a registered participant and need to pay the registration fee. You do not need to raise any funds. Crew members perform a variety of tasks that range from setting up rest stops to marking the route or anything that is necessary for the well being and safety of the walkers. Crew members attend an introduction and training meeting before the event. Donors employers can also contribute matching gifts.
