Unfortunately shoe fit/preference is really personal so it hard to ask for help online. A shoe that I love might cause you discomfort or even injury because we all different and it not right for your body.

If you can find a store to be fitted in person, I recommend reading some articles and trying to get an idea of your amount of pronation/arch height/etc, and ordering from somewhere with a great return policy (such as REI). Be willing to send things back if they don work for you.

I a big fan of Brooks. I have the now extinct PureDrifts and also a pair of Mizuno Hitogami. I can stand having the heel cup be too firm so I like that they mostly mesh. They keep my feet cool and aren too restrictive.

I used to have the same problem when I ran outside I felt fine, but when I was on the treadmill my feet would hurt. I started running in barefoot shoes and took down the speed on the treadmill and now I can run without pain. I not trying to shill for barefoot shoes, but if you liked running barefoot before you might want to alter your treadmill stride vs. getting cushioned running shoes.

If you want to get cushioned shoes I hear good things about Nike Frees. You can pick your level of heel drop, which is nice, and I hear they pretty breathable.
