Your first concern must be flexibility. Test a pair of little girls shoes’ flexibility by gripping the shoe at its heel in one hand and toe in the other. Then, bend the heel and toe toward each other. If the ball of the shoe bends, located in the sole behind the toes, rather than at the center, that shoe has got steel stiffening. What makes this so serious? A little lady cannot bend her foot in such a shoe. Furthermore, a thick sole is difficult to bend, thus meaning it will be difficult for your girl to bend with her feet.

Secondly, look to the toe shape of your little girls shoes. Never get a pair of shoes with pointed toes. You will find that a broad toed shoe affords your child has normal foot growth.

Next, never buy into arch support features. This causes footwear deformities in the inner sole. Just because a shoe is not advertised as having arch support does not mean it does not contain such. Check if a shoe has these added elevations by running your fingers inside the inner sole.

This can be done by feeling a shoe’s sides and making sure there is free space between a shoe’s sides and the foot. Another tip is to feel a shoe’s sides at the same time.

Remember that shoes that fit "just right" when you buy them will not last long. Children grow so fast, so be sure to give little girls shoes some growing room.
