Use screws to attach two "L" brackets facing downward to the back of the 6 inch wide board at least 2 inches from each edge. Another way of determining the placement of the brackets is to find the center of the board then to find the center of each half and attach the bracket at those points. Mark the wall where you want to attach the rack and attach the board to the wall. Be sure to mark the wall leaving proper spacing if you are attaching more than one rack. Next, attach the 3 inch board above the boards that you already have in place.

You can attach as many racks as you wish. The only thing that limits the number of racks that you can build is the amount of space that you have. Since building a shoe rack can help with space problems, it would be wise to plan ahead and build more racks than needed, because they can also be used to store other items.
