I have a dell (bad for gaming I know, but I don’t have the $ to build a PC.) My specs are vista, 2 gb ram, amd athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 2.1 ghz, and a 64 mb graphics card (really crappy I know.)

Now I understand this is a horrible set up for gaming, but I’m trying to run games like Diablo 2 and Counterstrike that have incredibly miniscule requirements, and these games give me HORRIBLE framerate and they skip and freeze. Now, I’ve been playing these games for years and years, they both ran better on my e machine computer that is 10 years old, why do they run like crap on an alright dell computer? If you don’t know the requirements for these games, Diablo 2 requires 32 MB Ram, and a directX compatible card, it makes no sense why these games lag. I also have no spyware or viruses on my computer.

Could anyone even really give me an idea why this is happening? I’m not a computer noob really, it just doesn’t make any sense why something with such low requirements is lagging and freezing while running on a computer that goes beyond the call of duty for the requirements.

Well, I ran Diablo 2 in a window and it is not laggy anymore. I guess when it stretches to my 19 inch widescreen monitor it gets screwed up, I guess the same goes for counterstrike, although when I run that in a window it’s still laggy.

Thanks for telling me that Vista is so graphics consuming, I didn’t know that. I’ll look for a good graphics card to buy that isn’t too power supply consuming, because I’d imagine Dells do not have that great of a power supply. If anyone could recommend me something like that I’d appreciate it.
