I’m a FTM and have always been obsessed with baby shoes. I know babies don’t walk and that buying too many shoes are a waste of money and they outgrow them so fast. but aren’t they totally adorable. I hate to see babies barefoot unless it’s summer and they’re going to the pool or out in the sun. I’ve also seen poor babies in the wintertime out with only a pair of socks. If our feet get cold even in our winter boots, why not have your baby wear some baby boots as well. I found this cute baby heels website. aweeeee, expensive but sooo cute.
What do you think about baby shoes? My first daughter was born with clubbed foot so the only shoes she could wear for the first 6 months were her corrective shoes. When she was able to wear shoes, I went overboard and wasted tons of money. She would always pull them off. I kept a few pair and used them with my first 3 for special outtings and whatnot. She was born last July so it was hot and there was no need in putting shoes on a newborn. This summer, she still isn’t walking so I haven’t bought any shoes. I have some size 3’s and 4’s put up that she can wear when she does start walking. Plus we loose shoes around here all the time.
I didn’t get DS shoes until he was walking, and we live in the Arctic where the temperatures dip into the 40s in winter time. I assure you, socks and booties (and blankets outside obviously) will keep their feet warm enough. Also, there have been a few studies that show that certain types of shoes can delay walking and actually hurt their feet’s development.
I totally understand that shoes are OMG cute especially if you have a girl, but make sure you at least get loose fitting, soft soled shoes. Shoes that are hard soled and too tight don’t give their feet enough room to move and develop the proper foot muscles.
I LOVE SHOES! But nope, don’t get them until they can stand/walk. (slippers, like little ballet slippers are fine or those little leather moccasins good, but wait till their feet arent all curled up and kicking all the time or they just come off like socks and you loose them.)
First you don’t know what size their feet will be when they can stand and walk etc. So it’s just a waste of money unless you get those leather ones Robbiez I think is what they are called. But wait until they are like 9 months or they just fall off all the time.
