Kobe Bryant basketball shoes are a popular shoe model made by Nike. In December of 2010, the sixth incarnation of the Zoom Kobe series was released. Shoes from Bryant are always popular and the Kobe VI is expected to be the same.

A wide range of colorways is available to the Zoom Kobe sneakers. Periodically, though, Nike releases unique editions of the Bryant sneaker. Though Adidas was the first Nike Free Run maker of the official Bryant sneaker, Nike helped explode the popularity of his sneakers.

The Air Zoom Huarache 2K4 was the first Nike shoe affiliated with Bryant. Nike Free Run The 2K5 version followed Nike Roshe Run the next year. It was on the 2K5 that his new Nike logo was first found. The logo is said to be based on a symbol of the samurai warrior.

The Air Zoom Kobe I was the first Nike shoe bearing his name. It debuted on Christmas Day, 2005. Less than a month later, while wearing them against the Toronto Raptors, he poured in 81 points in a game.

The Zoom Kobe II and Zoom Kobe III featured the next two seasons. Each sneaker came with better support, stability, and cushioning. However, Bryant played most of the ZKIII season in another shoe. As a result, rumors have always persisted that Bryant did not like the ZKIII.

Though Bryant had an affiliation with the Hyperdunk shoes during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, his fourth shoe, Zoom Kobe IV, turned heads and created a sensation. Not only one of the lightest shoes Nike had made to that point, it was a low top. Not even a mid top shoe, it was like a regular shoe.

They were comfortable and were featured in a variety of colorways. The colorways had their own names, such as Del Sol, All Star Game, and Carpe Diem. Other special collections included the Draft Day Hornets Edition, the Minneapolis Lakers edition, the 2009 NBA Finals editions, and more.

In late 2009, the Zoom Kobe V was released and it ended up having more than two dozen colorways. It was even lighter than the ZKIV and also a low top shoe. In fact, at the time of its release, it was the lightest and lowest cut basketball shoe Nike had ever made.

Part of the inspiration of for such a low cut was inspired the game of soccer, or football. Bryant played the sport as a child and wanted a basketball shoe that allowed for enhanced lateral movement. Its weight is less than 11 ounces.

As mentioned above, the ZKV came in a multitude of colorways. Some of them were related to the Los Angeles Lakers team he plays for, such as Home and Away editions, an Inline Home edition, and a Playoff Pack. Editions revised from the Zoom Kobe IV included Chaos, All Star Game, Del Sol, Draft Day Hornets, and more.

Several more ZKV colorways that were not official for the ZKIV were one apiece for the University of Southern California and Duke University. There were also Team USA and Lower Merion High School editions produced, as well. Additional limited edition colors included the Dark Knight, the Bruce Lee, and the Martin Luther King, Jr.
