Matthew began his medal run by claiming silver in the 400m freestyle,
AJ jordan raptor 7s GS, then backed up to win gold in the 50m freestyle and the 100m butterfly multi class events. Matthew later won a bronze in the 100m backstroke multi class.

On the final day of competition Matthew swam his way to three gold medals in the 200m individual medley,

jordan Valentine 5s aj 5, 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly multi class events. He also picked up a silver in the 50m backstroke multi class.

His success at the recent Australian Age Championships followed an outstanding performance at the Australian Championships in Brisbane,

At the age of 14,

Matthew flew from Brisbane to Sydney to step on to the blocks at Sydney Olympic Park to represent South Coast Secondary School and Wollongong High School of the Performing Arts. He produced more personal best times and won gold in the 50m multi class freestyle,
