Volunteers on Preston’s Callon estate believe their plans to build a 1.5m community centre on the estate are beginning to gather momentum.

To get the plans rolling they have teamed up with members of the Guild Wheel project to organise a free fun day of running, cycling and

The event will get underway at 10am on Sunday with a guided cycle ride around the proposed 21 mile Guild Wheel route, starting and finishing on the estate’s multi sports pitch.

There will also be a 10 mile run, a five mile run and a family two mile walk, which will also start from the estate and use part of the Guild Wheel.

Colin Makinson, of the Callon Kids Community Club, said if the day goes well it could become an annual attraction.
